“Hello, 911?”

So it was Monday night and my husband was out playing basketball as usual.  He is usually home at a certain time, so I know when to expect him.

I was putting my son’s pajamas on him in my bedroom when I see the dog sit up and start growling and snarling exposing his big old chompers.  Rocky never does this….then I hear someone rush up the stairs really loud and fast.    I was sitting next to my endtable which has our cordless phone plugged in and I just reached for the phone and dialed 911.  I did it so fast and without thinking.

As soon as they said “911 What is your emergency?” My husband jumped in the room like a crazy man trying to be funny and I started laughing but it was a nervous and embarassed kind of laugh…all the while still on with 911.  I said “I’m really sorry, there is no emergency.  My husband just came home early surprising us and it scared me to death!”.  She said “Ma’am, can you desribe the man” and I said “oh, yes, but it’s my husband, we’re really ok”.  She said “That’s fine, but we still have to send out a police officer”.  Sure enough, 3 minutes later a police officer comes to the door.  He said “you’re alarm went off, right?” and I said “no, I dialed 911″ and he said “oh”.  I explained the situation and then Chad came to the door and it was all good.

Better safe then sorry?

Or crazy?

  1. Beth, I probably would’ve done the same thing. :-)

  2. That’s so funny! I’m glad it was Chad! :)

  3. I would kill him! Literally. I’m a nut when I’m scared. Whenever we watch America’s Funniest Home Videos, I tell my whole family, you better never jump out of anything cause, it won’t be pretty.

  4. Go, Rocky, go! I would have gone ballistic, too, and also called 911. I probably would have had to change my underwear, too, and then wouldn’t speak to my husband for like, oh, many years.

  5. TMI, Zoanna, TMI!

  6. Hillarious !!! I HATE getting scared like that…I’m glad it was Chad though! I always yell at Justin when he does that to me…it freaks me out!

  7. That is sooo funny.

  8. No wonder you slept through my phone call the next morning ;)

  9. That’s so funny Beth. I don’t know what I would have done. Probably hit him with a baseball bat. Just kidding. Good you didn’t do that! For some reason it reminds me of an embarrassing moment I had, you never react the way you picture yourself reacting. I’m going to go post that embarrassing moment now.
